The patchwork shapes are created using a cut-paper technique, and the silk-cotton fabric is naturally dyed in six layered colors. Each color is built up by hand using multiple plant dyes. The black lines are hand-drawn individually with a handmade mordant ink containing iron, which turns black on the fabric through a reaction with the tannins in the natural dyes.
